Dear Phillips Families,
Welcome back to school after what has been a very challenging couple of weeks in the North Bay Area. I know I speak for our entire staff when I say that we sincerely hope that all of you and all of your loved ones are well and are getting the support needed if anyone was affected by the fires. Please be sure to reach out to me, your child’s teacher or the Family Resource Center Staff to let us know if you or your children are in need of additional support. Through this natural disaster, it has been so incredible to see how this community has come together to help one another. There continue to be resources and support available and we are here to help you connect to those resources if needed. This includes information we can share with anyone who may have been out of work or may still be out of work due to the wildfires and their effects. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Below, please find important information about upcoming dates and times at Phillips:
Conference week was scheduled for next week, October 30th-November 3rd with early release at 11:30. Because of the fact that we have missed two weeks of school, NVUSD schools will not have minimum days for conferences this year. Conferences will be held during non-instructional time or after school on select days before Thanksgiving break. Your child’s teacher will send you an invitation with this information. Please note in your calendars that we will NOT have early dismissal the week of October 30th-November 3rd. We will have a normal schedule that week with dismissal at 3:00 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and at 12:30 on Wednesday.
Picture day has been rescheduled to November 6th. We will send more information about this in the coming weeks.
Halloween will also be here before we know it. Students who would like to wear costumes to school on October 31st may do so. If your child is coming in costume, they need to wear the costume to school, as staff will not be able to help students change into their costumes. Please remember, all costumes should be kid friendly with no blood, gore, masks, weapons or revealing clothing.
Reminder that there will be no school this Friday, October 27th. This is reflected in the Phillips and NVUSD Calendars.
Again, all of us at Phillips are ready and excited for students to return to school. Teachers will help students transition back into school with classroom activities and we have staff on hand for students who might need a little extra support as they return.
